INSPIRE Project Research Collaboration Meeting TDMRC Syiah Kuala University – IRDR UCL UK

A team of TDMRC researchers led by Dr. Ella Meilianda is currently on a visit to the University College London, United Kingdom. The visit is the preliminary stage of a research collaboration between the two institutions, with the funding from Newton Institutional Link.

The visiting team is comprised of Dr. Ella Meilianda, the research team leader; Dr. Khairul Munadi, the Director of TDMRC; as well as Dr. Yunita Idris and Ibny Rusydy as team members. The meeting takes place on June 24 to 28, 2018.

The bi-institutional collaboration comes within a project theme titled “INSPIRE: Indonesia School Programme to Increase Resilience. The project is led by Dr. Carmine Galasso of University College London. INSPIRE project is aimed to develop an advanced, harmonized, and science-based risk assessment framework for school infrastructures in Indonesia that are subjected to cascading earthquake-tsunami hazards.

The activities during the visit include INSPIRE workshop presentation, where Dr. Ella Meilianda presents and highlights TDMRC’s activities in front of the forum. The presentation is titled “An Overview of The Tsunami and Disaster Mitigation Research Center (TDMRC) at the University of Syiah Kuala, Indonesia.” In the second day, the forum takes opportunity to discuss the strategy for research and field survey, which will be undertaken by the teams from both institutions in Aceh.
