Aceh Data and Disaster Information (DIBA)

DIBA is a system that is designed as information database and statistical analysis of natural disasters di Aceh and plays its role as a decision supported media for disaster risk reduction.
The initiative of DIBA is due to the frequency and increasing intensity of natural disaster, bad impact as well increasing detriment. So that, the data and historical disaster information, as well the tool applied to analyze the pattern and trend of disaster is really needed.

National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) is a mandated agency to collect and to analyze information regarding incidence and impact of natural disaster in Indonesia. The disaster database will support BNPB in preparation of regulations, decisions, and allocating funds related to mitigation activity and disaster management. Information availability and hazard analysis tool will also assist all stakeholders to focus on the efforts of disaster risk reduction (PRB) in Indonesia. For this purpose, BNPB with the support of SC-DRR UNDP, has adopted Desinventar technology to develop tool and application for the disaster data analysis. This application is named DiBi (Indonesia Data and Disaster Information).

DiBi (http://DiBi.bnpb.go.id) was launched on 29 July 2008 and accommodated disaster data in Indonesia that has been validated from 1997 to 2007. DiBi is expected can be adapted and used for the territories in Indonesia with the frequency and intensity of disaster events is high, such as DI Yogyakarta, Bengkulu, Central java, Aceh, West Sumatera, and East Nusa Tenggara. Since the mid of 2009, TDMRC together with UNDP under the programme od Disaster Risk Reduction-Aceh (DRR-A) have been conducting adjustment activity of DiBi into the local context of Aceh province through some stages for an example its socialization to SKPA (Aceh Government Unit), and other stakeholders that deal with PRB efforts.
