Workshop of Tsunami Modelling

SDC (Sea Defense Consultant) and TDMRC cooperated from 2006 to 2009 on tsunami modeling over the island of Sumatra. This project was conducted along with USU Medan, the University of Bengkulu, the University of Andalas, and UNILA.

The main objective of this cooperation was to develop a tsunami model of Sumatera in various scenarios to be added to the tsunami database. The activity was conducted in the form of tsunami modeling workshops in four phases: I, II, III, and IV. Participants from the above universities were expected to develop scenarios of earthquakes that would cause tsunami in each area. Below is the figure of tsunami scenarios made using Fault Model.  At this time, 107 scenarios have been generated. In 2010 and 2011, more scenarios will be developed by TDMRC staff in the Applied Research division.
